Tribute to the syrian girl/woman, 2016
Mixed media and collage on canvas
20 x 52 cm.
Artwork done for the exhibition "Refugees: a dream of humanity", a charity exhibition to raise funds for Syrian refugees, done at the Ho! Gruf (Lugo, Spain).
Poem written in the artwork:
My body was not made to suffer
but now I know that it would resist a hecatomb.
I am like a cockroach.
I am like a Muslim messiah.
I am the representative of humanity.
My mother told me
"If you can't hide your soul, hide your body.
If you can't hide your body, hide your face. "
Tomorrow I won't have to protect myself.
Tomorrow, the whole world will listen to me.
Artwork in private collection.
